WRU Deaf welcome two new coaches to the women’s team setup

Following our women’s team first season success in 2019, WRU Deaf Head Coach, RJ Coles, has been working hard to get the set up just right for our women’s team players. We’re now proud to announce the appointment of two new coaches – Darren Venn, as Women’s head coach, and Ieuan Parsons, as Women’s Backs coach. These new appointments really strengthen the management team as we look to schedule matches post-covid. By providing dedicated support to our women’s team players, it is hoped WRU Deaf can continue in the same successes as the men’s team accomplishments at World Deaf rugby 7’s and 15’s.

Newly appointed WRU Deaf Women’s Head Coach, Darren Venn said,

“With my knowledge and experience of rugby coaching I am honoured to take up the position of the WRU Deaf Womens Head Coach role and further develop not only myself but also a very talented and determined squad of players. I am coming into a very professional and committed set up and I look forward to working with everyone to deliver successful results on the field. I have always believed that rugby is a game for everyone and i look forward to developing and improving the players and coaches to achieve their goals in the red jersey of Wales. I am excited and looking forward to the challenge.”

Previously playing at Rogerstone RFC and Newbridge RFC, Ebbw Vale RFC is Darren’s current club.

Ieuan Parsons, Skills & Assistant Backs coach at Crosskeys RFC, joins WRU Deaf as Backs Coach, commented

“I am really looking forward to the journey and excited to be involved in the women’s programme”.
