FEBRAURY saw both our men’s and women’s teams return to training sessions.
Following the lifting of restrictions across Wales, WRU Deaf were pleased to welcome both teams back to training at CCB Center for Sporting Excellence, Ystrud.
With the hosting of Ghana Deaf Rugby planned in April 2022, and the World Deaf Rugby 7’s Championship in Argentina 2023, having the teams back to training means the opportunity to start building the squad back to full form.
Commenting on the return to training, James Savastano, Team Manager said:
“It’s been a long time coming but it was fantastic to see 35 players attend our initial Wales Deaf Training session. Really good to see the old faces after the Covid induced break but even better to see lots of new players – our social media and recruiting is obviously going well.”

Further training sessions will be posted on the website when dates and venues have been confirmed.
