WALES DEAF JOIN IN 2008 GRAND SLAM CELEBRATIONS

Members of the Wales Deaf Rugby Team helped the national senior side celebrate their Grand Slam achievement of 2008 in a star studded event held at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

Team captain Matthew Campbell proudly carried the World Cup from the changing rooms and onto the pitch in front of an audience of more than 20,000 fans.

A 3 hour musical extravaganza followed with Welsh bands 'Feeder' and 'Stereophonics' rocking the stadium with some of their best known hits. 'X Factor' star Rhydian Roberts, Dafydd Iwan and Heather Small from 'M People' also performed.

Team Manager Geraint John, said: "We are delighted and honoured to have been given the opportunity to participate in the event. It is just reward for everyone who has helped make it a successful season for the team. Being involved in such a prestigious event will also help raise our profile and the awareness of deaf rugby throughout Wales."
